Mossel & Gin is a restaurant located at Westergas in Amsterdam. We work with a young team and have been focusing on mussels, a compact menu and gin and tonics for over 10 years. No extensive menu, no unnecessary stress. Just good cooking, efficient work and having fun during service.

What we are looking for

We are looking for someone who is motivated and eager to learn. Experience is a plus, but not a requirement. If you are ambitious, willing to take responsibility and want to improve your skills in the kitchen, we will teach you the rest.

What you will be doing

You will work in a well-organised kitchen with a concise menu. We do the preparations during the day and service starts at 5 p.m. In winter, the kitchen is open until 9.30 p.m., and in summer until 10.30 p.m. You will assist with service, help with mise-en-place and gradually grow towards greater independence.

Mossel & Gin is located in the heart of Westerpark and has been focused for over 10 years on giving both its team and guests a great time. We prepare mussels in all flavors, serve a delicious fish & chips, and also surprise guests with the taste and quality of our other dishes. We offer an extensive Gin & Tonic menu and unique Dutch wines that we are proud of. The atmosphere is relaxed, the team is close-knit, and the venue thrives on regular guests, locals, and park visitors.
We are looking for a general manager who, together with the team, leads the floor, runs the venue, and maintains oversight.

What we are looking for

You have proven hospitality experience and leadership experience. You are social, clear, authentic, and feel responsible for the venue as if it were your own place. You work in a structured way, maintain overview, and know how to guide and motivate a team without raising your voice. You lead by example and have a strong passion for hospitality and quality.

What will you do

You actively work alongside the team and lead during service. You take responsibility for scheduling, ordering, and inventory. You are the point of contact for both guests and team members and ensure everyone knows what is expected of them.

You recognize strengths within the team and place people in the right positions. Even during busy moments, you remain calm and sharp. You think along about improvements and actually implement them. You set and maintain high standards. You help train the team. You gain insight into revenue and costs and use this, together with us, to help shape the future direction of the business.
Together with the team, you ensure that guests feel welcome and that everyone who visits wants to return.

Vacancy (Sous) Chef

Mossel & Gin is located in the heart of Westerpark and has been focused on one thing for over 10 years: giving guests a great time. We serve mussels in all flavors, insanely good fish & chips, and a number of other dishes where quality always comes first. The atmosphere is relaxed, the team is close-knit, and the business thrives on regulars, locals, and park visitors. At the end of this summer, our chef Arno will be leaving. That is why we are looking for a (sous) chef who can step in now, operate at a high level, and has the ambition to grow into the role of head chef.

What we are looking for

You have proven experience as a (sous) chef. You can run a service without losing overview. You are clear, calm, and work in a structured way. You feel responsible for kitchen quality and are confident making decisions. You want to grow and are willing to put in the work to achieve that.

What you will do

You will fully participate in kitchen operations and share responsibility for the daily management. During service, you maintain overview, safeguard quality and pace, and lead the team where needed. You contribute ideas on the menu, planning, and purchasing. You stay in control of mise en place, hygiene, structure, and stock. You identify areas for improvement and take action. You work closely with the chef and gradually take on more responsibility, with the goal of eventually leading the kitchen. Together with the team, you ensure every plate is right and that guests keep coming back.
